About Me

I relocated to Whidbey Island a few years ago from the Tampa Bay area of Florida. I began building websites in 2001 after completing an HTML and Macromedia Web Designer certification course. I had an internship at a web design company in Clearwater and became the lead designer in 2002. I have worked in a fast paced shop environment, working closely with others or independently. I have been involved in several web related business ventures and also freelanced for marketing groups. I prefer working with small business owners and individuals directly. It seems to be very effective in terms of meeting the customer's needs, as well as keeping overhead and costs down.

I use Dreamweaver and Fireworks almost exclusively. I do a little bit of Flash work to sometimes punch things up a bit, though I rarely build full Flash websites. I have worked primarily with HTML coding and GUI HTML generators, because while style is important - function is even more important. You could have the flashiest site on the internet, but if nobody can find you... it doesn't really matter.

If you are considering hiring a professional to build your personal or business website, chances are your main concern is in developing a solid online presence - and hopefully generating some revenue. When someone searches Google with a relevant search string, you want to appear on the first page of results. You want your website visitors to be able to easily navigate your website and find the information that they are seeking. You want to make a good impression overall and put your best foot forward as a professional entity.

These are all things that I focus on whenever I build a new website. I have many different jobs: Web Design, Graphic Arts, Search Engine Optimization, Technical Writing and assisting with Marketing Campaigns. I am always learning more about websites and the internet. I am currently involved in a Photoshop course, so I look forward to being able to offer my customers more in the area of graphic design elements in the future. I do like to keep things as simple as possible. Simple doesn't have to mean "cheap". I think it works a lot better at conveying a message to the viewer.

I charge $99 per webpage for the first 4 pages, and after that I have an hourly rate of $25 per hour. This includes setting up your domain name, hosting account, and everything that you will need to go live with your website. I build new websites, edit and maintain existing websites and also do complete redesign of older websites. I am technically a freelance web designer, which means that I work with individuals as well as marketing groups that subcontract web design work. I will work on a 1099 basis with you or your company.

Web Design
While I am a web designer, I am not a programmer. I don't like to turn down work, but for any sort of website that involves heavy programming or database work, I am probably not your best choice. I do, however, work with third party plugin shopping cart programs. If you are looking for someone who is easy to work with, professional and affordable - then I'm a good choice. I've also found over the years that it is just as easy to work with a local customer as it is to work with someone 3,000 miles away. Thanks to technology, it's easier than ever for us to communicate, be on the same page and get your website up and running in no time!

I enjoy creating lasting relationships with customers. I am here to answer any questions or concerns that you may have and am always available to manage or update your website when needed. I also like to empower my customers to do what they can on their own - not only to save money, but so that you're not in the dark about how the process works. I make sure that you have any necessary login and password information and your current website files, should you ever need to go anywhere else for any reason.
